01 What it was like

We drink to relax. Elevate the mood. A quick fix to a bad day or situation. Then tolerance grows. Dependence grows. Being out of control grows.

I had been involved in recovery meetings for years before it clicked.

02 What happened

Alcohol became a constant. I didnt feel normal unless I had alcohol. My first marriage ended because of alcohol. I was unhappy. Sick! I had been involved in recovery meetings for years before it clicked. I view recovery like a puzzle: When enough of the right people, prayers, situations, and advice come together, the “bigger picture” becomes clearer.

03 What it is like now

Am back involved in my career. Able to use my experience to help others. Aware that my use would cost me my life if I didn’t change. It had cost me enough in my life already. Thankful for the ability to see the big picture and the many influences that made this happen. I have been blessed.
