01 What it was like
I drank and used when I didn’t want to. I sunk below my values quicker than I could lower them.

02 What happened
I snorted two 8 balls of Coke and couldn’t get high enough. Frightened me. Went to treatment. My obsessions left on day 1, never to return. That was July 22, 1988.
03 What it is like now
It took a while to learn how to live one day at a time. It took longer to learn how to deal with my past and my feelings. It had been worth all the work. Today is better than I could have imagined.
