01 What it was like
I was black out drunk 5 nights a week in a codependent relationship. I spent the majority of my paycheck in the bars and on a nightly 12 pack. I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I was self medicating from being a survivor of a sexual assault, failed marriage, and a great deal of lost dreams.

02 What happened
Was arrested on an Aggravated DWI and lost my job working with children who have an emotional disturbance. I began to reevaluate my life at that point and forced myself into recovery after I watched a person who I cared about at the time have an alcohol induced psychosis.
03 What it is like now
I love being sober and life is really much better. I was able to celebrate my 5th year in recovery with my sister just before she passed. Now two years later, I have received my Bachelor's Degree in Substance Use Disorder Counseling and have received my CASAC T. In the next few weeks, I begin a new career path as a Chemical Dependency Counselor for a drug and alcohol treatment center.
