01 What it was like
A maddening, half-hearted, lying, cheating, ugly mess. I lived by the skin of my teeth, and cared about no one but my own [worthless] self.

God intervened through the people in the rooms of AA.
03 What it is like now
Material things aside, I am richer and more blessed than I’ve ever been. The obsession to drink has been lifted, by the Grace of God and AA.
