01 What it was like
I was a big party girl and social butterfly. My drinking got bad my senior year of high school. By the time college rolled around, I was drinking almost every day, blacking out every night, and waking up with the shakes.

02 What happened
On June 9th, 2013 I had a grand mal seizure from alcohol withdrawal. I don't remember anything except waking up in the hospital very confused. I didn't drink for 8 months after that, but wasn't ready to surrender. I still did other drugs and eventually drank. I was out for 2 months and it was miserable. I hated myself. I decided to get sober again and have been since!
03 What it is like now
Today the desire to drink has gone. I will have fleeting thoughts that remind me that I am and always will be an alcoholic, but I live a full life. I am a college student working on my degree in Elementary education and assistant manage a yoga studio. I am so thankful for my sobriety and those who helped me and continually help me.
