01 What it was like
What started out as a small town past time on weekends, followed me to the bigger cities. I moved from Illinois to Texas during my college years and drinking had only been a weekend ritual. Eventually my drinking moved from weekends only to nightly... most of which ended up in blackouts. My work started suffering, my marriage ended and my other relationships started spiraling south as well. My life had become out of control and no matter how many times I said "I'll cut back" or "I'm not drinking during the week" or "No shots"... once I started, there was no stopping.

02 What happened
After a series of lies and days with little to no memory of the previous day(s), I found my bottom and had nowhere to turn to so I HAD to ask for help. I knew I couldn't do it myself.
03 What it is like now
Sober life has been more than I could ever imagine. By putting my will and my life in the care of my Higher Power, I have everything I could ever need and pretty much everything I want. I have an established sober posse that supports each other when we are down and celebrates when we are up. I get to go to work everyday and help others, am fully self sufficient and have learned what it is like to serve others with no expectation of something in return. Life is amazing and I get to experience it one day at a time.
