Lotus Center Inc operates as a non-profit outpatient clinic on the Minnesota side of the Fargo-Moorhead metro, offering structured addiction treatment and recovery services to adults across the region. The facility serves clients from Moorhead and the surrounding Minnesota communities as well as people traveling from North Dakota who are seeking outpatient care closer to home. As a community-rooted recovery resource, the center is designed to be accessible — not just geographically, but financially, through a range of accepted payment options including Medicaid, state insurance, private insurance, sliding scale fees, and self-pay.

The outpatient model means clients engage in treatment while remaining part of their communities — maintaining housing, employment, and family relationships throughout the process. This structure is particularly well-suited to adults in ongoing recovery who need consistent clinical support without a residential setting, as well as those transitioning out of higher levels of care and building the routines that sustain long-term sobriety.

Lotus Center offers two distinct outpatient tracks to match the varying needs of adults at different points in their recovery. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a more structured schedule with greater clinical contact, suited to individuals who are in earlier stages of recovery or who need more frequent support to maintain stability. The standard Outpatient Program offers a less intensive schedule, appropriate for clients who have built a foundation in recovery and are working to sustain it while managing everyday responsibilities.

Both programs are open to men and women 18 and older, including adults entering treatment through court orders. The availability of two program tiers within the same facility allows for continuity — clients can step down from IOP to the standard outpatient level without having to establish care at a new provider, keeping their therapeutic relationships intact during an important transition in their recovery.

Lotus Center's clinical work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a structured approach that helps clients understand the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and substance use behaviors. CBT gives people in recovery concrete skills they can apply outside of sessions — a particularly important feature in outpatient treatment, where clients are navigating real-world triggers between appointments.

Running alongside this clinical framework is the center's harm reduction philosophy. Rather than requiring a specific recovery outcome as a condition of care, harm reduction meets clients where they are, recognizing that progress looks different for each person. Lotus Center also has demonstrated capacity to work with co-occurring disorders and Trauma/PTSD — two conditions that frequently intersect with substance use and that require clinical attention in their own right. For clients who need resources beyond the clinic's direct services, the center provides referrals to both treatment programs and housing services, helping people build the support network that recovery demands.

Lotus Center's programs are open to adult men and women 18 and older, including those entering treatment voluntarily and those who are court-ordered. The facility has specific experience with individuals managing co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders, as well as those with histories of trauma and PTSD.
