Underage Drinking Is A Problem

With the legal age to drink in the United States holding steady at 21, it is a well-known fact that underage drinking is a serious issue. Most drinking seems to pique the curiosity of teenagers almost inevitably. Between such a curiosity and peer pressure tied together, the avoidance of underage drinking seems to be almost unavoidable.

There are many issues and concerns associated with underage drinking, one of the main issues being that many of those taking part in such drinking really don’t have the proper knowledge of the dangers related to drinking.

Teenagers may not be able to grasp the possible effects, sometimes even deadly effects, that drinking can have on their bodies. Underage drinking can also play a large role in the productivity in a teen’s schoolwork.

Underage drinking also contributes to a great number of drinking and driving related accidents, injuries and deaths. Teenagers drinking is bad enough, let alone when they are drinking and then get behind the wheel of their car. Overall, underage drinking is simply a recipe for disaster. At the end of the day, the enacted drinking age is there for a reason. And even though unfortunately some adults aren’t 100% responsible, there is typically more security when underage drinking is not involved.
