Brand names:  Dinarkon, Diphydrone, Endocet, OxyContin, Roxicet, Roxicodone
Short term effects:  Constipation, nausea, sedation, dizziness, vomiting, headache, dry mouth, sweating, mood changes, flushing, loss of appetite, and weakness.

Long term effects: Physical dependence
Administered: Oral, intranasal, injection and rectal

Synopsis: Oxycodone is an opiate agonist similar to other phenanthrene derivatives such as hydrocodone. Oxycodone is used to control moderate to severe pain, including pain from cancer, postoperative and postpartum pain and non-pain syndromes such as restless leg and Tourette syndromes. Oxycodone has the same potency as morphine (but considerably less side effects) and may be an alternative in users or patients who cannot tolerate morphine or hydromorphone.
