One in eight Americans struggle with addiction of some kind, whether it be drugs or alcohol. Having personally dealt with it, I know how frustrated and helpless you feel when someone you love is lost in their drug of choice. It is an awful way to live, and if you have a loved one that has an addiction, I pray for you and ask that you pray for my brother Michael as well. As always, it’s far from perfect, but I wrote it in one day and felt strongly enough about it to get it up! Thank you for watching
LYRICS
Addiction
Where are you running?
What are you running from?
I wish i could save you now.
But you’re lost and I don’t know how.
You’ve always been so bright.
But the light has gone from your eyes.
Your love has been replaced.
By this poison coursing through your veins.
Yeah.
I don’t understand what keeps you running,
Away from the ones you love.
My heart is breaking,
Cause I fear you are too far gone.
Tell me why you’re running.
This life will destroy us all.
It’s killing you slowly,
Addiction consumes us all.
I wonder where you hide,
And if you’ll come home tonight.
Or if I’ll receive the call,
That you didn’t survive the fall this time,
No.
I don’t understand what keeps you running,
Away from the ones you love.
My heart is breaking,
Cause I fear you are too far gone.
Tell me why you’re running.
This life could destroy us all.
It’s killing you slowly,
Addiction consumes us all.
You held the world in the palm of your hand.
Wasted youth you can never get back.
Try as I might, I will never understand-
Why you take addiction’s hand.
What keeps you running,
Away from the ones you love?
My heart is breaking,
Cause I fear you are too far gone.
Tell me why you’re running.
This life will destroy us all.
It’s killing you slowly,
Addiction consumes us all.
It’s killing you slowly,
Addiction consumes us all.

I’m celebrating my 4 years of sobriety today…I’m so sorry for your loss!
Wow this is so touching,I cried.
This song is really touching. The lyrics are very powerful. Feel bad for her. Her voice is beautiful though.
This song brought trears to my eye’s. I use to be so cought up into my addiction I could not see my way out for over 10 years. I now have 1 year sober, my family never gave up hope, and always showed me love.
Thank you, Lisa, for speaking the thoughts that all families affected by addiction feel. Very powerful.
